Autocratic, sociopathic leaders have, at their disposal, the most advances weapons the world has ever known and seem inclined towards endless war. As diffucult as this topic is, people of consicience must take control of the narrative and talk about war. What better way to do it than by lifting up the thoughts of one of greatest American historians and a veteran of World War II, Howard Zinn. Pastor Joshua will discuss Zinn’s writings through the lens of UU spirituality.
Rev. Celia Young is an ordained interfaith chaplain and founder of the Authentic Being Center. For over 30 years, Ms. Young has provided consulting services to achieve social justice in FORTUNE 500 corporations worldwide. Rev. Young also offers leadership coaching through her ministry, as well as online holistic well-being life coaching to individuals and groups, including support groups for social activists. She is available for individual listening sessions. Rev. Celia Young has a BA in Business Administration, an MBA in Marketing, an MA in Counseling Psychology, and a Master of Divinity equivalent. Humans, especially in the “first world,” take self-centeredness to an extreme by
ignoring anything we do not experience directly. This month’s Soul Matters theme
is embodying resilience. In order to do that successfully, we must practice
perspective, beginning with the acknowledgement that the world does not revolve
around us.
Though each human being is sacred and precious, living in community is not
always easy. In fact, relationships, especially across differences, can be very
hard. In her sermon, Rabbi Miller will share extended Jewish thoughts on the
biblical value of loving one’s neighbor.
