Connect Group Mixers
Fun events where people meet and connect with others in their area of town, stage of life, or interests with the purpose of forming meaningful relationships.
Chalice Circles
Chalice Circles have 8-12 people and are led by trained lay leaders. Members of the group decide at the first meeting whether they will meet once or twice a month for one year. Each session lasts two hours and is held in a casual environment such as members’ homes, the church, or another set location.
A typical meeting starts with chalice lighting, opening reading, and a deep check-in that lasts about 50 minutes. The facilitator then introduces a topic for group discussion and concludes the meeting with closing words. Examples of topics include love, loss, forgiveness, and humor. Refreshments may be served during or after the meeting.
Group members take the time to listen to each other, but don’t attempt to solve each other’s problems. These are not therapy or support groups but an opportunity to enrich our community with conversation and attentiveness that can be difficult to find in the busy life of a congregation.
