The prospect of using sacred language like God, bless, pray, etc. presents both the opportunity for
meaningful and poetic expression and the challenge of misrepresentation and misunderstanding. Yet are
there legitimate alternatives? This is a community where words are rightfully very important to our
identities. This is also a community where the words we use must not distract from the work we do. This
week’s sermon/reflection will address the ever-present issue every modern Unitarian Universalist
church/congregation faces – the use of sacred language.
