Becoming a UU minister inspired me to return to my culturally Jewish roots. On Rosh Hashanah we return to the beginning of a new Jewish calendar year. On Yom Kippur we are meant to return to our wrongdoing and repent. Returning to October 7th, we recall the scene of a horrible crime that catalyzed a horribly violent spike in an ongoing war. Returning can be traumatizing, but it can also be life-affirming. I’d like to talk about returning to our basic humanity with strength, wisdom, and caution by centering the voices of divine humanity as an essential aspect of moving forward in love.
