The indigenous American author Thomas King wrote, “The truth about stories is that that’s all we are.” Then, who tells the story, how the story is told, to whom the story is told, and so many more factors must also dictate who we are. Many in our country are retelling stories, obfuscating and erasing others, and making up even more out of whole cloth that suits a white supremacist narrative. Therefore, it is ever more crucial to lift up stories and storyteller voices that have been silenced for too long.
