My late husband Bob Brytan and I joined the Unitarian church in Long Beach about 33 years ago in large part because we wanted to enroll our son Ben in it’s highly thought of Religious Education program. We were both tenured professors in the California Community Colleges at the time, he at Orange Coast, and I at Cypress College.  I loved teaching biology, from Human Ecology to Anatomy, Physiology and Histology over my 40 year tenure.  When my 11 year old Ben and his father Bob were killed in a car crash, I joined the Bolsa Chica Land Trust (BCLT) board of directors to work in their memory to help facilitate saving part of the present Ecological Reserve from development.  I also designed educational signage for the reserve.

I became a member of Pacific Unitarian Church about 8 years ago after moving to the South Bay and marrying my college boyfriend, Trav Wood some 19 years ago. I have worked here to support Children’s music programs and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra as a member of the board of the Peninsula Committee for the LAPhil.  At Pacific Unitarian, I’ve very much enjoyed singing in the choir with Severin, our wonderful Musical Director, and participating in the Chalice Circle program as well as helping out as a POD contact person for the Palos Verdes area.  I hope to do what I can for Pacific Unitarian by serving on its Board.
