You eat and others eat, too! Pacific Unitarian members can get 16 oz. servings of soup for a $5.00 suggested donation per serving ordered up to a maximum of 4 servings. You take the soup home to enjoy and the proceeds will go to help organizations that provide meals to others. Soup for 2 will be accepting orders Monday, Nov 16 through Thursday, Nov 19 for pickup on Saturday, Nov 21 from 11:00-12:30 on the patio.
Soup selections are:
Vegan Minestrone Soup
This vegan and gluten-free Minestrone stays true to its Italian roots. While it doesn’t use ingredients from leftover meals, like the original back in the 2nd century, it does use common everyday vegetables. Carrots, onions, garlic, green beans, zucchini and fire roasted tomatoes are simmered in vegetable stock. The vegetables are seasoned with oregano and basil before being joined with white beans, chopped greens and gluten-free pasta. Fruire!
Italian Wedding Soup
This hearty combination of meatballs, vegetables and pasta are great on a cold day. Italian Wedding soup gets its name from the Italian phrase minestra maritata which means “married soup”. The bride and groom are the greens and meat. The meatballs are made from beef and pork along with egg, parmesan cheese and Italian seasonings. Once seared, the meatballs are simmered with onion, celery and carrots in a chicken stock. Pasta and greens are added to complete the soup. Gustare!
