Pacific Unitarian is hosting a poignant performance of “Cancion del Inmigrante” or “Immigrant Song.”  The images above show a buffet of colors and people.  Seems exciting right. But what is it? CANCION DEL INMIGRANTE is a Multi-disciplinary Latin-Folk Opera that fuses puppetry, music, dance, poetry, and storytelling. Conceived by Julio Montereo, and performed by his- and Severin’s-Latin Alternative Folk group Cuñao. The folk opera is a collection of “scenes” that tackle themes such as children crossing the border alone, trying to find love in a new country, refugees escaping under the guise of darkness.  “Cancion” is the exploration of not only the physical but also the emotional journey immigrants often have as they set out for new lives.  Participants include both Serverin, his wife Beth Peterson on Puppets.  It has been performed in the Chinatown district of LA and at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana.  This should be both a great and a natural event in our efforts to become a more multicultural Space.

This Anniversary event, which if it were not for Covid would be accompanied by our Annual dinner is an exciting part of our spring calendar and of pledge month.
