NEW ANTI-RACISM CLASS THIS MONTH
What’s all this anti-racism stuff about? Please bring your curiosity to this eleven-week course:
The 11-Step Guide to Understanding Race, Racism, and White Privilege
To grow our allyship with all people of color, we must first understand how racism works and what it has to do with us personally.
Unpacking the culture of systemic racism that we have inherited requires vulnerability. This deep work takes time and trust. Let’s take the time and build a circle of trust. This course is intended to be a safe space to grow allyship. No shame or guilting each other, but rather, a path to growing together as we become aware of our roles in the complicated issues of race and inequality.
Please join co-facilitators Andrea Matson-deKay and Kimberly Pratto-Storr. They will determine the meeting schedule that best accommodates the availability of participants.
Sign up by emailing “Sign me Up” with your name and contact info to Jewell Faamaligi at: moed@pacificunitarian.org
Each weekly session will last 1-1/2 hours.
Course outline: We will follow the “11-Step Guide to Understanding Race, Racism, and White Privilege,” the brainchild of Jon Greenberg, a high school civics teacher.
This is not critical race theory. The course was developed before George Floyd’s murder awakened our awareness to the serious and urgent impact of race inequalities.
Please join us! Taking this class was an incredibly meaningful experience last year. We look forward to sharing new sessions with those of you who missed it before, as well as all of you who would like to take a deeper dive.
