The Pastor’s Pen – Dec 2025
As we close this calendar year, I’d like to share some initiatives for which I am incredibly grateful and which I know will benefit Pacific Unitarian Church enormously!
Some of you may have come across or heard the term, SEE. It is an acronym that stands for Spiritual Exploration and Education and is the new moniker our religious education committee has given our program for spiritual enrichment for youth and adults. More than just a great name, we have a powerful team of volunteers working with our Director of SEE, Dr. Haven Perez to grow the program for all ages with significant initiatives including recruiting participants, tightening organization, and engaging our youth and adults in new and exciting ways.
Many of you already know about our strategic planning and church renaming efforts. In our December congregational meeting, we will see the fruit of that tremendous amount of work and I guarantee you will be impressed and super excited for the future of our congregation. I certainly am!
Pacific Unitarian has become a hub for events of all kinds. Numerous South Bay progressive organizations seek us out to hold their gatherings, we have concerts and speakers, and this congregational year will include a grand installation, playing host to the UU Pacific South West Conference, Pagan rituals throughout the year, and a possible community-wide Juneteenth event. We also have a new event vendor for weddings and other large events. I mentioned this effort in a Sunday service recently but I want to highlight it again because of the amount of great work that went into bringing on Chef Dora Presents! If you have a chance to meet Dora and her team, I know you will be impressed!
These are just a few of the many programs and initiatives that are being undertaken by our amazing Board, committees, and task forces that make me so proud of our volunteers and staff at Pacific Unitarian and excited for the future of our congregation!
