Friends:

March marks the beginning of Spring when nature turns toward rebirth and new growth. The Christian Lent begins, Hindu’s observe Holi, the Spring Equinox is celebrated, and Muslim’s are in the midst of their holy month of Ramadan. All these observances are reminders to turn toward the divine in our lives, however we know it and however we experience it.

This is the perfect motivation for refocusing toward what will renew our spirits and bring positivity to the world. One way I do that is through social justice action. I’ve noticed that others are feeling the same. We have members, friends, and new visitors to Pacific Unitarian who want to be part of a community that is activated to undertake spiritual uplift in the form of social justice actions.

To that end, I have included in our newsletter the Side With Love weekly action update as well as any local actions that are taking place. Last week, I attended the March for Dignity for immigrants’ rights in downtown LA and I know some of you attended the Indivisible Musk Masquerade March. This month, there will be a gathering right here in Redondo Beach for International Women’s Day on March 8th.

In addition, we have other social justice events and initiatives through our P.E.C. @ Pacific Unitarian programming (Peace, Equity, Climate) as well as many more exciting and interesting events happening that will facilitate spiritual renewal through community connection. I encourage you to check out the calendar of events listed here in the monthly newsletter, in our weekly e-blasts, and posted on campus.

None of this can happen without your participation and your pledges. As you know, our pledge drive “More Love” is happening right now and I encourage you to offer to pledge whatever you can and however you can. My wish is that all the gifts you receive from and give to this community in the form of participation, support, and love serve to constantly renew and strengthen your spirit and our collective spirit.
