Death Cafe at Pacific Unitarian?
In many cultures, including our own, death is a taboo topic. Yet, the death rate remains at 100%! So, why don’t we talk about it? Caitlin Doughty, a mortician, founder of The Order of the Good Death and the person who proposed the idea of Death Positivity writes, “Subconscious fear of death drives us in negative ways whereas open acknowledgement of our own deaths can help us in positive ways.”
Pastor Joshua will begin a conversation at our service on October 27 as we celebrate The Day of the Dead and All Hallow’s Eve. To continue the conversation, he’d like to propose Pacific Unitarian hold what is called a Death Cafe. You can find more information at https://deathcafe.com to gauge your desire and availability to participate and/or facilitate. If you are interested in facilitating on a future date, please reach out to Pastor Joshua.
