“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” from Anne of Green Gables.
Happy October! Happy Fall!
I am so grateful to Pacific Unitarian! My ordination was a delight. I loved having you all with me for the ceremony and your help with everything from logistics to a beautiful stole. I was surprised and grateful for the words of my ministerial colleagues. The most memorable moment was the laying on of hands. As each of you laid hands on me, I could physically feel the weight of the responsibility of ministry AND the blessing of your support. It was indeed the moment that brought home the seriousness of my call. Thank you for being there with me at this important moment!
We continue with a search for a coordinator of religious education. We have had over ten applicants, with several scheduled for final interviews. We hope to announce a candidate in the next few weeks! The committee has been delighted by the quality of the candidates. Each brings a unique love of religion and appreciation for our children and youth.
Have you been curious about the ministerial search process? It is a long and complicated process. After talking to the minister search committee (MSC), we would like to offer two Search 101 sessions. These sessions will introduce the search process and all the steps involved. We hope this introduction will help you feel informed and follow along with the MSC as they do their important work.
We are creeping into fall, a mix of warm and cold days. I am not ready to give up sandals for socks again, but I love fall. We hung up our Halloween decorations over the weekend. The light has changed, and the air is crisp. I also made a big pot of corn chowder to celebrate the cooler weather.
Beloveds, my prayer for you is this. As the days grow shorter and the weather colder, I hope you have opportunities to experience coziness. Curl up with a good book, a warm dog, a cup of tea, or a hot cider. Remember that you are worth rest and safety. Let the cold allow you to take care of yourself again. Amen.
Sending love,
Rev. Chloë
