Revelation
Is Not Sealed

Reverend Dr. Stephen H. Furrer, preaching. Unitarian Universalism hallows ancient wisdom traditions, it's true, but has also always heeded the guidance of reason and the results of science. Ours is not, as the scholar's say, a "revealed" religion, where everything important has already been revealed and there's nothing new or original up ahead. We hold otherwise. A paean to the scientific method.
Pursuing Excellence

Reverend Dr. Stephen H. Furrer. What are we paying for when we "buy" liberal religion? What's our "product" and what's it's "worth"? Not believing in hell, religion for us is no a fire insurance policy. What is it then? Ever wondered what liberal religionists are investing in, and why it'll pay manifold dividends? Find out why!

Joys
&
Concerns

Dear Friends,

I am moving up SOON to the bay area where my two sons and their families live. I decided fast and found a lovely senior community in Foster City, in a new, green building in a "mixed use" area. The Redwood City UU Church, where Stephen served as interim minister, is ten minutes away. I shall miss you all, but it's better for me. My family is delighted and has been VERY helpful! Check the website and take a two-minute virtual tour. AND come up and visit!

My new address as of March 14th will be :

Joyce Block-Miller
The Atria
707 Thayer Lane, #319
Foster City, CA 94404
New email: [email protected]

I'll be at church THIS Sunday to say "goodbye" to you all. I hope to see you then. May we all survive the next four years!

Love, Health and Happiness!

Playing in the Sage ....

“Superhero science has taught me this: Entire universes fit comfortably inside our skulls. Not just one or two but endless universes can be packed into that dark, wet, and bony hollow without breaking it open from the inside. The space in our heads will stretch to accommodate them all. The real doorway to the fifth dimension was always right here. Inside. That infinite interior space contains all the divine, the alien, and the unworldly we’ll ever need.”

Masked Vigilantes, Miraculous Mutants
and a Sun God from Smallville Can
Teach Us About Being Human

Working with young children has kept imagination alive and the world a magical place for me over the last 40 years. To believe in our super hero possibility, you just have to watch children play.

A child can wake each morning believing they can fly, rescue friends from danger, and be invincible as the story of the day dictates. I wonder at what point, as we make our way to “adultness”, do we stop packing that idea and feeling in our day’s agenda?

I say we go look for that cape, hiding in the back of our closets, and leap a tall building…or two!

Warmly,
Sylvia
