Sunset Social
Fridays
6:00 p.m. to Sunset
Redondo Beach at Avenue G
Join the Religious Education Committee for fun and fellowship every Friday evening this summer on the beach at Avenue G in Redondo Beach, where you will find plenty of metered parking. Bring a blanket and some dinner and come enjoy the evening sun and sand while hanging out with church members, their friends, and families. This is a great way to get to know fellow PUC members and friends of PUC in an informal, relaxed environment. Greg Garcia and his family will be on the beach by 6:00 p.m. You can find them located near the water across from the newly renovated restrooms. Redondo Beach hosts a farmer's market in Riviera Village just a few blocks away at the corner of Avenue I and Catalina from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., so you may want to stop and pick up dinner on the way. All ages and stages are welcome!

The PUC Bike Club is back in action
On Aug 14th, bring your bike, shoes, and clothes to church.
Let us know if you and your family would be interested in cruising on the strand. We can get a ride leader for a flat strand ride also.
It’s been requested that we occasionally go for a hike also. On Aug 21th, anyone who is interested can ride to a hike (either at the top of Crenshaw or in Malaga Cove, if it’s hot). Anyone just interested in hiking, can meet us at the trail head. Should be a fun “cross training” day!

BUDDHIST MEDITATION GROUP meets at PUC Library Tuesday evenings, 7:30-9:00 pm.
Learn meditation and the purpose of meditation in the Buddhist wisdom tradition. Developing our love and compassion for all beings, we can find joy and meaning in life. Newcomers welcome anytime, no experience required. Just bring an open mind and a kind heart - we can even help you find those! While meditation instruction is free, donations ($10-$20) to support our activity are gratefully accepted.
Dan Dempster has been authorized by Khenpo Migmar Tseten (Buddhist chaplain at Harvard University and Director of the Sakya Institute for Buddhist Study, Cambridge) and is a certified meditation instructor.

Playing in the Sage…
“Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.”
----Dr. Seuss
Dr. Seuss must have had soap bubbles in mind.
The friends at Pacific Sage were exploring bubbles by blowing through straws in soapy colored water. Bubbles are magical bits of wonder as they appear and disappear in an instant. The bit of a taste of soapy water that came with a gasp of surprise caught a few of the children off-guard, but the bubble prints were worth it!
Living and learning with our friends reminds me that children feel with such intensity and trying to understand the feelings and emotions that follow us throughout our day is never ending. We help them navigate and name this emotional world that connects them to their experiences and each other, but we’ll wait to tell them that in life, it really is… “never ending”.
Warmly,
Sylvia
Director
Pacific Sage Preschool
