Laundry Love Moves to New & Better Location! Vivi’s Laundry in Carson.

Pacific Unitarian’s Laundry Love ministry has been underway for three months at La Familia Laundromat in Lomita. We have served 50 customers with 170 loads of laundry! The location has worked, but the Committee has been open to moving to a new location as another church also offers Laundry Love services at La Familia.

We recently learned of a laundromat in Carson interested hosting a Laundry Love service. After meeting with the enthusiastic owner and reviewing with the Committee, we decided we will move to Vivi’s Laundry in Carson beginning in May to serve a new and potentially larger community!

Highlights of Vivi’s Laundry:

  • Spacious location – 5x larger than the current location, plenty of seating, and air conditioned
  • Newer, more efficient washer and dryers at the same cost
  • Large outside awnings to provide shade in summer and shelter in winter
  • Location is closer to our Pacific Unitarian volunteers in Redondo, Hermosa, Gardena, and Hawthorne
  • Vivi, the owner, is very collaborative. She is displaying a large poster in her laundromat and is open to expanding to serve food and provide clothing donations in the future
  • We’d love your involvement in two ways:
  • Volunteer the second Saturday of the month from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm or 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm – upcoming weekends are May 11 and June 8.  Sign up through our sign-up genius link at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/508094fadad2ba1fa7-laundry
  • Donate money for laundry loads by taking home a “Change for Changing Lives” container for your loose change or drop off financial contributions in the Laundry Love Bank in the church office. While quarters work great, we’ll gladly accept dollars, coins of any type, and checks made out to Pacific Unitarian with “Laundry Love” in the memo line

Our volunteers love their Laundry Love experience! If you have questions about what it’s like to volunteer at Laundry Love, speak with Melissa Tyrell, Tracy Blender, Nancy Elchoness, Vivian Hao, Linda Shahain, Gary or Lee Ann Hart, or Janet or Andy Kissner.
